Description of the attraction
The arch with lions in the resort town of Goryachy Klyuch is an architectural monument of the XX century. The arch, located in the Healing Park (the original name is Sanatorny), not far from the Drinking Gallery, was built in 1914 in honor of the 50th anniversary of the resort. It is very symbolic that the arch with lions was erected in front of the entrance to this park, since this place is considered the starting point for all roads that lead to the main health resort areas of Goryachiy Klyuch.
The arch has a height of about 5 m. At the base of the columns, united by a metal openwork lintel, figures of two lions were installed on huge slabs. The basis for the creation of this composition was a plot from an old painting depicting local places. As conceived by designers and sculptors, this composition personifies the victory of health over ailments. Lions act as "health", in the form of a defeated boar, an ailment is depicted, lying under the forepaws of animals.
In ancient times, lions lived in the Caucasus, but later the animals went away from people to the distant southern lands - to the north of India and the deserts of Asia.
The healing park, Kurortnaya and Abadzekhskaya mountains, a hydropathic establishment, a drinking gallery, as well as clean air and forest silence convince that thanks to the local Psekup mineral waters, victory over ailments is quite possible. The local climate promotes quick and effective healing, and quite often leads to the rejuvenation of the human body.
The Arch with Lions in Goryachy Klyuch is one of the city's attractions, attracting guests of the resort at any time of the year.
