In fact, there is no sea in the city of Kaliningrad itself. It is washed by the waters of the Kaliningrad Bay. The city was built on its banks at the mouth of the Pregolya River. For the cool sea, long beaches with dunes overgrown with grass, fishing and other attractions, you should go to one of the resorts of the Kaliningrad region. They are located not far from Kaliningrad, they can be reached in 30-40 minutes by suitable trains or fixed-route taxis. If you have your own or rented car, you can discover new beaches every day, and there are a great many of them here.
Baltic expanses
The most famous resorts of the Kaliningrad region, located on the Baltic Sea, are Zelenogradsk, Yantarny, Pionersk, Svetlogorsk, Donskoe. The swimming season here begins in mid-July and lasts only one month. The North Baltic Sea warms up late and cools down quickly. But at the peak of the high season, the water temperature near the coast is about 22 degrees.
The Baltic beaches are long and wide. They do not lie on each other's heads here, as on the southern coast of Crimea. There is enough space for everyone: for tents, for sun beds, and for picnics on the shore.
Sandy beaches and clean, without sharp stones, the bottom of the sea near the coast, comfortable air temperature, relative seclusion are the reasons why the Baltic Sea resorts choose families with children, romantics, couples in love, elderly people and even those who want to improve their health. Near the sea springs with healing mineral water, which are worth trying for everyone, without exception. Numerous sanatoriums built along the coast of the Baltic Sea offer their guests a treatment based on local mud.

Locals, when they want to relax on the coast, choose the following beaches:
- on the Curonian Spit. Russia owns 48 km of the Curonian Spit. We can say that this is a long beach, where it is easy to find secluded areas protected by a coniferous forest. Tourists who come to the Curonian Spit rent housing in the villages of Morskoye, Lesnoy, Rybachy;
- in Zelenogradsk. Not everyone loves "wild" beaches, although there are some in this resort. The main city beach has excellent infrastructure: there are lifeguard towers, restaurants for every taste. The descent into the water is gentle, which means that families with children choose the beach;
- in Svetlogorsk. The beach is characterized by a non-uniform surface: pebbles come across in the fine sand. The strip set aside for resting on the shore is narrow: its width does not exceed 25 meters. To the east of the city's main beach, you can find quiet and peaceful "wild" areas;
- in Yantarny. The beach, marked with the prestigious "blue flag", is considered the best in the Kaliningrad region. It is characterized by clean fine sand, clear water near the coast, and the presence of sports grounds.
Entertainment in the Baltic
Beach holidays quickly get bored, and then the days of rest for the guests of Kaliningrad and its environs are brightened up by numerous sea activities. Probably only in the Baltic Sea is it possible to hunt for pieces of amber, armed with a scuba gear and a special flashlight. If you are not interested in treasure hunting, then you can just go diving.
Lovers of water sports will not be disappointed either. There are no strong waves off the coast of the Baltic Sea, but novice surfers will appreciate them. If you wish, you can go sailing. In Kaliningrad itself there are several yacht clubs, where they will always tell you where it is best to sail.
They also arrange excursions on yachts and boats along the coast. Tourist offices offer vacationers sea fishing. Usually, guests are provided with all the tackles, so you should not take them on vacation from home. The caught fish is given to the coca, who makes a tasty treat from it for the general feast.
