Description of the attraction

The Kaliningrad Art Gallery was founded in November 1988 and has the largest art collection in the region today. The core of the collection of the Kaliningrad Art Gallery is made up of works by foreign and domestic artists of the second half of the twentieth century. The permanent exhibition is represented by works of graphics, painting, sculpture, arts and crafts and gives a general idea of East Prussian, Soviet and Russian art, expanding knowledge of the history of the Kaliningrad region. In the "Art of Königsberg" section, you can see sculptures and graphic works of artists whose work was associated with the Königsberg Academy of Arts, as well as photographs and paintings that recreate the atmosphere of the old city.

The museum's funds contain more than twelve thousand works of art from the late 17th - early 20th centuries, embodying all the variety of styles and trends. On an area of more than three thousand square meters, there are eight exhibition halls, in which more than sixty exhibitions with Russian and foreign exhibits are held annually. Also, the museum hosts meetings with famous art workers, holds lectures and chamber performances.

The Virtual Branch of the Russian Museum has been functioning in the gallery since 2004, and a center for the creative development of children and adolescents has been opened. Studios of fine and theatrical art work for children, master classes are held.
