Shipka pass
Shipka pass
Its stones are understood by the troops of Alexander the Great who passed here. Later, in the era of the Roman Empire, there were 2 roads at once, built by the Romans using the most advanced technologies of that time. Today, a highway has been laid here connecting the north and south of the country.
One of the decisive battles of the Russian-Turkish war of the 70s of the XIX century took place at the pass. The Bulgarians fought shoulder to shoulder with the Russians. In memory of those events, a monument was erected at the pass.

There is a convenient observation deck for exploring the surroundings. And one more bonus for those who decide to visit this attraction: the residents of a nearby village willingly treat visitors to yogurt made from buffalo milk.
