This small Middle Eastern state surprisingly found itself in the list of world record holders for the number of seas washing it. There are four of them on the Promised Land, if you keep in mind that Lake Kinneret is often called the Sea of Galilee. A fascinating and comfortable beach vacation in Israel can be organized on the shores of any of the four seas, if you know the characteristics of each and be able to correctly navigate the terrain, prices and customs of local residents.
Where to fly to sunbathe?
Each sea in Israel has its own special characteristics, and therefore beach holidays in different parts of the country are different and very significantly:
- The Red Sea is always the season for a beach holiday. In Israel, the local resort of Eilat is the most popular place for a vacation or a long weekend among locals. Considering the number of holidays in Israel, it is worth booking tours to Eilat in advance, because on certain days there is nowhere for an apple to fall from the sufferers to soak up the sand.
- The Mediterranean coast stretches for many kilometers and the beaches - along with it. The most famous are located in Tel Aviv, where it is customary to hang out all night in cafes on the sand, dip crisp bread in hummus, wash it down with white wine and interfere with the sleep of guests of coastal hotels.
- The Dead Sea is the most amazing thing. On its beaches, they are more often treated than just rest, but to get acquainted with the wonder of the world, it is worth taxiing to its shores for at least a couple of days.
- Swimming and beach vacations in Israel on Lake Kinneret are usually combined with pilgrimage: in the vicinity of the Sea of Galilee, the Savior performed his miracles and thousands of believers come here every year to worship the holy places.
Weather features of a beach holiday in Israel
The most all-season resort in Israel is the city of Eilat on the Red Sea with its + 22 ° C in sea waves in winter and + 26 ° C in summer. By the way, there are almost no waves here, because the water area of the bay is protected from winds by mountains. It does not often rain at the resort, and the locals remember every such day almost by name. In the summer in Eilat it is often + 40 ° C and higher, and therefore in July and August for those who cannot stand the heat, it is better not to book tours here.
In the Dead Sea in winter it is equally warm both in the water and on the shore - the mercury column is kept in the region of + 20 ° С. Summer is the time of a strong 40-degree heat, the impression of which is enhanced by the fumes of the saltiest and most mineral-rich reservoir in the world. The optimal time for a beach holiday in the local resorts is March, April and November.
In Tel Aviv, the weather can give warm sun and sunbathing temperatures even on New Year's, but the optimal time to relax on the local beaches is April-June and September-October.
Airport as a local landmark
Flying up to Eilat, most tourists manage to see through the windows even the bikini pattern of the most beautiful girl in the surf, and she, in turn, count the number of rivets on the plane's fuselage. The runway is located a few meters from the beach and the winged cars literally shuffle their belly over the Eilat sand, coming in and shocking new holidaymakers.
Otherwise, a beach holiday in Israel on the Red Sea differs little from the traditional one: restaurants prepare seafood, hotels serve breakfast buffets, and small boats take those who wish to islands where coral grows and diving flourishes.
Aeroflot has direct regular flights to Eilat from Moscow, and several Russian airlines from other cities of the country have charter flights during the high season.
Free sun loungers and umbrellas can be found on the Migdalor beach, and a hotel can be found and booked by a poor student and a small-scale oligarch, if desired.
Photo with newspaper
Almost everyone who has been to the beaches of the Dead Sea has a photo of a loved one reading a newspaper while lying on the surface of the water. This is exactly what the local bathing looks like, which is not recommended for longer than 10-15 minutes and more often a couple of times a day.
Hotels on the Dead Sea are very expensive, and therefore only those who need to swim in a salt lake for health reasons usually stay in them. Thrifty tourists prefer to come to local beaches for one day with sightseeing tours from Eilat, Jerusalem or Tel Aviv.
Useful information
When choosing a beach vacation in Israel as a vacation option, there are several small features that can turn into big problems if you do not prepare for them on the shore:
- At the height of summer, vacationing in Israel is not very comfortable due to the intense heat. Thermometers often go beyond + 35 ° C even in the shade.
- The Dead Sea beaches are not a sunbathing spot in the traditional sense. The water of the saltiest body of water on the planet is not suitable for serene swimming and the local resorts are more intended for treatment.
- The time from Friday evening to Saturday evening is the traditional Sabbath. During this period, the vast majority of shops, restaurants and other establishments designed to entertain tourists are closed. In many hotels, service during this period is reduced to zero, transport does not work, and therefore it is worth preparing in advance for possible inconveniences.
The undoubted advantages of a beach holiday in Israel for a Russian tourist is that even away from home he does not have to overcome the language barrier. In the field of vision there is always at least one person who speaks the great and mighty.
