The capital of Lombardy has won love not only among fashionistas (they come here to buy new things in local boutiques) and lovers of fashion shows - Milan will be interesting to visit for connoisseurs of architecture and history (the excursion program should include a visit to the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie to admire the "Last Supper" - a fresco by Leonardo).
Duomo Cathedral
Cathedral (symbol of Milan) made of white marble - a building in the style of "flaming Gothic", strikes the imagination with its architecture: you can admire the marble walls with their sculptural compositions, "reproducing" biblical subjects (there are angels, animals and saints). The main spire of the cathedral looks no less majestic: it is crowned by the heavenly patroness of Milan - the figure of the Virgin Mary.
As for the interior of the Duomo, visitors will be able to admire artfully decorated walls, graceful and at the same time powerful columns, stained glass windows, an Egyptian bath of the 4th century (today it is used as a baptismal font), a sculpture of St. Bartholomew, tombstones of saints (scenes from their lives), listen to organ music, climb the stairs or take the elevator to the observation deck on the roof of the cathedral (there, in a rather large area, you can walk, looking at not only Milan from a height, but also the cathedral itself with its rich decor and numerous turrets) …
Sforza castle
Leonardo da Vinci is related to the decoration of the castle (his work is the design of the Sala della Esse hall), and to the construction of the castle - Bramante (he built the Bridge and completed the Rochetta courtyard). Today, several museums are located on the territory of the Sforza castle (the ancient Egyptian, the museum of tableware and other museums, which can be entered by purchasing a single ticket in advance, but on Friday and after lunch there is a chance to visit them for free), and those who wish are allowed to visit the large garden surrounding the castle.
La Scala Opera House
The theater has good acoustics, and every armchair (all of them upholstered in velvet) in the auditorium (shaped like a horseshoe) offers an excellent view of the stage. In the theater, you can visit not only opera performances - in the fall, guests are delighted with symphony orchestras. You can also visit the museum at the theater - here you can see Liszt's piano and casts of the hands of various composers.
