You can get to Armenia from Russia by train, by car and by air. The latter method is the most optimal, taking into account some tension on the land borders around the country of stones and apricots and the not very good quality of highways in the republic. Airports of Armenia receive daily many flights from different countries, including aircraft with Russian tourists.
International airports of Armenia
The country's largest air gates, which have international status, were built in Yerevan and Gyumri:
- Gyumri "Shirak" airport is located just 5 km from the city center.
- Aeroflot, UTair and S7 planes land at the Zvartnots airport in the capital.
The distance between the cities in which the international airports are located is slightly more than one hundred kilometers.
Metropolitan direction
The airport in Armenia, which is used by most travelers, was built in 1961, 10 km from Yerevan. During its existence, it has been reconstructed more than once, and the last restructuring took place in 2007 - a new modern passenger terminal was opened in the air port for servicing international flights.
At the disposal of passengers there are waiting rooms with comfortable armchairs, restaurants of Armenian and international cuisine, currency exchange offices, ATMs, duty-free shops, waiting rooms for VIP-persons, parking, car rental offices.
From the capital airport of Armenia, there are flights to 70 cities of the world, it is home to Air Armenia. The air harbor accepts flights from Air France, Czech Airlines, Etihad Airways, Alitalia, Austrian Airlines, LOT Polish and all Russian air carriers. From Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Chelyabinsk, Sochi and many more cities in Russia, you can get here by Aeroflot, S7, Donavia, Saratov Airlines, RusLine and others.
In 2013, Yerevan "Zvartnots" was awarded the title of "The best airport in the CIS and Baltic states" in the competition of air ports of developing countries in Dubai.
Transfer to the city is possible by taxi or public transport - there is a bus connection between the terminal and Yerevan.
Additional information for passengers is available on the website - www.zvartnots.am.
Dispersal field
Difficult weather conditions in the mountains and the workload of the capital "Zvartnots" became the main reasons for the reconstruction of the "Shirak" airport. Located 5 km from Gyumri, it first opened in 1961, and in 2006, work began on its improvement.
Today, aircraft fly to Gyumri from Russia - Moscow and Rostov-on-Don, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg. Communication with Krasnodar and the capital airport in Yerevan has also been established.
This airport of Armenia cannot yet boast of a particularly modern infrastructure, but the passengers of Donavia, Rusline, VIM-Avia and Saratov Airlines note the benevolence of the staff and their desire to help every tourist feel at home in Gyumri.
