Most of the territory of this country is occupied by lifeless deserts, and, nevertheless, a trip to Jordan will be very interesting and informative. Do not forget about places like the legendary Petra - a city carved into the rocks, the seaside Aqaba, the amazing waters of the Red Sea and, of course, the amazing landscape of the Wadi Rum Valley.
Urban transport
Regular buses with a specific route are available only in four cities of the country: Amman; Zarke; Aqaba; Irbide. In addition to them, minibuses and minibuses run around the cities. There is no schedule as such. Buses simply follow their route in a driver-friendly way. Minibuses leave only after the cabin is full of passengers.
In provincial towns like Kerak or Shune, only mini-buses go around the city.
For guests of the country, the use of city buses is extremely difficult, since all the inscriptions on the buses are exclusively in Arabic.
Taxi
The most comfortable way to move around the city is by taxi. You will find two types of taxis in the country:
- route (the car is painted white) move along certain routes;
- regular taxis (yellow cars).
Yellow taxis have a meter, but the price of the trip must be negotiated in advance.
Taxis are used only within cities. If there is a need for a long-distance trip, you will have to obtain and pay for a special permit.
Intercity buses
The main carrier is JETT. The bus routes cover most of the settlements and are quite comfortable at the same time.
It is best to book tickets in advance, but you can also buy them at the ticket office of the bus station. But then you will have to confirm the trip by contacting a special ticket office.
In addition to official carriers, private companies are also involved in the transportation. But remember that they don't have a schedule and the cars are not so convenient. Private traders leave as the salon is full. The fare is paid directly to the driver.
Air transport
Flights are operated by two companies: Royal Jordanian; Royal Wings. From the country you can fly to Amman, Damascus, Aqaba and Tel Aviv. There is only one domestic flight: Amman - Aqaba. Flights are made four times a day. The flight duration is a little less than an hour.
There are only three airport complexes in the country:
- Queen Aliya is an international airport located south of Amman;
- Marka (located directly on the territory of Amman);
- airport of the city of Aqaba (international).
Railway transport
There is a railway connection only on the Amman-Mafrak section. Then the train goes to Damascus (Syria). The train is sent twice a week - Monday and Tuesday.
