The holiday season in Abkhazia lasts from May to September.
- Spring: in spring it is quite warm in order to take walks along the forest edges and city parks, as well as go on excursion tours (air temperature + 16-19 degrees). And at the beginning of May, you can already safely sunbathe on the sea coast.
- Summer: summer in Abkhazia is bright sun, various fruits and berries, clean mountain air, warm sea (summer heat is easy to endure thanks to cool sea breezes). But if you decide to go on an excursion to the mountainous regions, it is worth considering that it often rains here in summer, during the day it is never warmer than +18 degrees, and in the evening and at night it can even freeze.
- Autumn: the first half of autumn is the “velvet” season in the republic, so here you can still swim and sunbathe. But from mid-October the weather deteriorates - torrential rains begin to fall, accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms.
- Winter: In coastal areas, winters are mild (air temperature + 8-10 degrees), but it is accompanied by rain and stormy winds. As for the mountainous regions, the winter is harsh, and the snow lasts from October to June.
Beach season in Abkhazia
The duration of the swimming season is late May-late September.
While resting in the city of Sukhumi, you will find sand and pebble beaches - “Gumista” (“wild” pebble beach), “Mayak” (coarse-pebble, unequipped beach), the beach of the sanatorium “Sukhumi” MVO (equipped playground, cafe, rental point for jet skis and catamarans), "Sinap" (sandy beach, gentle entrance to the sea), "Central Beach" (rounded pebbles + gravel, rental stations, water activities).
The beaches in Pitsunda are mostly small-pebble, but you can find one sandy beach at the Rybzavod resort. As for recreation in Gagra, the beaches in the New part of the city are covered with small rounded pebbles (there is a water park here), and the beaches of the Old Town are covered with small, medium and large pebbles. If you wish, you can visit the paid beach from the sanatorium "Solnechny" - it is sandy and pebble.

Diving
The duration of the diving season in Abkhazia is March-October.
As you dive into the local waters, you can spot quirky fish, shellfish and crustaceans. If you wish, you can go on both underwater excursions and underwater hunting for crucian carp, mullet or croaker. It is interesting to spend time on an excursion to the underwater city of Dioscuria (Sukhum Bay), where you can clearly see the remains of this ancient Greek colony. And using the services of an experienced instructor, you can look at the remains of a Soviet ship that sank during the war.
