March is the month of transition from winter to spring. The beginning of spring is considered to be the appearance of a positive temperature. The transition of temperature values through the zero mark, further rapid warming in the south-western regions of Belarus usually falls on March 13-20, in the central regions - on March 23-27, in the northeastern regions - on March 28-31. However, only the third decade of the month can bring true spring weather. On the warmest days of the month in Belarus it can be about +10 degrees. Belarus is famous for its numerous festivals, which are evenly distributed throughout the year. So what events might interest tourists in March?
- In Belarus, there is a holiday dedicated to the arrival of spring. This holiday is known as "Gukanne Viasny". The story began a long time ago. In the early 1990s, an active revival of the rituals of the holiday was noted. People can enjoy national songs and dances on the first of March, and participate in games. By now, a scenario has been formed for the modern holiday of the arrival of spring, which is spreading not only in villages, but also in cities. People make various natural souvenirs from willow and birch branches, make birds and images of animals from straw, dough, paper. The holiday, distinguished by the Belarusian flavor and ancient rituals, which are combined with modern traditions, is distinguished by its brightness and sublimity, thanks to which it is becoming more and more popular.
- Festival "White Castle" is an old knight's festival, which is held in the village of Ostroshitsky Gorodok, located near Minsk. The history of the holiday began in 1997. Currently, the festival is actively developing, thanks to which it attracts people from many countries of the world. The program is designed for three days and is rich. It includes knightly tournaments, archery competitions, duel staging competition, squires tournament, armor competition, medieval dress competition, troubadours and minstrel concerts. Festival guests can try their hand at throwing axes and knives, archery, theater performances and music concerts, fire shows. The compulsory program also includes a medieval ball, in which spectators wishing to study and perform medieval dances can participate. At the fair, which is open during the White Castle festival, you can buy leather, metal and wood products, antique stylized, collections of ancient music. The exhibition of siege equipment from the 12th to 14th centuries also attracts many people. Guests at the festival can taste lamb and other types of meat, fried quail, mead and stew.
