The international airport in Kursk is located in the eastern part of the city of the same name at a distance of 7 kilometers from the center. The aircraft's artificial runway, reinforced with a concrete pavement, has a length of 2.5 km and accepts aircraft with a takeoff weight of up to 190 tons.

The main air carriers of the enterprise are the Russian companies UTair, Rusline, Pskovavia. Flights to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Anapa, Simferopol and other large cities of Russia depart daily from here. During the holiday season, the company serves charter flights abroad. The airport's capacity is 120 passengers per hour.

History

The beginning of civil aviation in the Kursk region falls on December 1945, when a special-purpose aviation detachment was created on the basis of the existing aviation link in Kursk and a newly arrived flight squadron from Poland. Its first place of deployment was an area on the southern outskirts of Kursk with an unpaved runway.

In September 1967, the detachment changed its base to the Kursk Vostochny airfield, where it is located to this day.

Until 2010, Kursk Vostochny served domestic flights - Moscow, Anapa, Simferopol and other cities of Russia. In 2012, after the reconstruction of the passenger terminal and the runway, the airline received international status.

Today, regular flights to Israel, Egypt, Bulgaria and other popular tourist countries are carried out from here.
