Kazakhstan is one of the best ski countries in Asia. The criteria "price" and "quality" are acceptable here, and the service and the level of comfort at the country's resorts can be safely put on a par with the infrastructure capabilities of many European countries.
Equipment and tracks
The most important resort in Kazakhstan is Chimbulak. It is located near the famous Medeo skating rink and attracts winter sports fans with its high quality tracks. All of them have passed the FIS certification, some are among the ten most difficult in the world. The difference in altitude at the resort reaches almost a kilometer, and the total length of the slopes exceeds 3.5 kilometers. Chymbulak tracks have “green”, “red”, “blue” and “black” markings, which means that it can accept beginners, middle-level athletes, and real gurus. The slopes are served by several lifts with different operating principles. There are never queues or traffic jams here. The resort's trademark is a huge variety of tracks and different quality of slopes.
There are only four tracks in the Izumrudny resort in Kazakhstan, but there is an excellent ski school. Night skiing is popular here, as one of the tracks is illuminated. Equipment can be rented and the hotel can accommodate over 80 people.
There are four slopes open at the Altai Alps resort, on which both beginners and advanced skiers can try their hand. There is an equipment rental service, and experienced instructors of the local school help beginners to get on the skis correctly. Accommodation in the Altai Alps is possible both in a comfortable hotel and in cozy alpine chalets.
The resort on Mount Eagle in Kazakhstan is a paradise for fans of free skiing. Amateur championships are held here, and two and a half kilometers of slope is enough to catch the adrenaline and feel free flight.
Entertainment and excursions
All kinds of active winter recreation are popular in the ski resorts of Kazakhstan. Here you can go snowmobiling or wander through the virgin snow on snowshoes. Various bath complexes will help warm up and relax tired muscles, and restaurants with national cuisine will introduce you to the best examples of Kazakh culinary art.
Some of the resorts offer horseback riding and horse riding lessons, ice skating and paragliding. All ski villages are equipped with night clubs, discos, billiard rooms. An additional bonus for a successful vacation will be excursions to nearby natural and historical sights.
