Description of the attraction
The Boksitogorsk center of history and culture of his native land is located in the city of Boksitogorsk on Sovetskaya street, 6. The center was opened in 1997, so it has been pleasing numerous residents of its city with new and new expositions for 15 years. After deciding to open the museum, it was necessary to take care of its location. The Department of Culture issued a decree on the location of the cultural center in the building of a previously existing kindergarten, the building of which was built back in 1947. Previously, large-scale repair and restoration work was carried out in the building, as a result of which two of the existing four halls were reconstructed and prepared for the exposition and exhibition space. After some time, similar preparatory work was carried out in the other two halls.
Starting its work, the cultural and historical center has identified for itself the most important areas of work, among which are noted: scientific and research activities, scientific fund work, educational and exhibition activities. Today, the head of the center is Larisa Mikhailovna Ivanova, an active person who seeks to expand the types of activities as much as possible.
There are three exhibition halls in the center of history and culture. The first hall is occupied by a permanent exhibition, which does not leave the walls of the institution for a fairly long period of time. It is dedicated to the historical development of the alumina refinery located in the hometown of Boksitogorsk and bears the title "From the Finding of Bauxite Ore Generations to the Present."
The other two halls are reserved for seasonal exhibitions. For example, in one of the halls were exhibited photographs of Musinov Ruslan - one of the editors of the newspaper "New Way", as well as Rudykh Lyubov - his correspondent. The presented exposition includes reportage photographs, as well as unique beauty views of the nature of these places.
Another showroom is called the Russian House, and it is here that occasional arts and crafts exhibitions are held. One of the most interesting exhibitions was the exposition dedicated to the holidays of Easter and Maslenitsa. The exposition dedicated to the New Year holidays, the program of which included the "Snowmen" competition, was especially interesting. It is worth noting that evenings with a cup of warm tea are held in this hall, as well as heated discussions of folk crafts and issues of celebrating ancient Russian holidays. Here you can also see a large collection of samovars, numbering about 30 copies.
Particularly popular among visitors is the exhibition entitled "Time and Things", which fully reveals the essence of things, as well as their development and transformation over time. For example, here you can see the first telephone dating back to the times of Peter the Great.
As for photography, photography lovers will be able to enjoy the works of the talented photographer Vladimir Evgenievich Zagarskikh, who has always been popular due to his uncomplicated views of the natural landscapes of his native land. One exhibition presents two expositions of works by the famous master under the names "Ragusha River" and "Landscapes of the Region". A notable feature of the exhibitions is that they are accompanied by poems by V. F. Polishchuk, which perfectly complement the photographs.
It should be noted that the work of the center of culture and history is not only in the presentation of expositions, because the center has been conducting various kinds of children's excursions for a long time, aimed at acquainting the modern generation with the nature and history of these places. In addition, several times a year, talks are held for young residents of the city regarding the consideration of historical as well as cultural issues.
