Description of the attraction
Wat Bentyamabophit, one of the youngest royal monasteries in Bangkok, was established in the early twentieth century. The complex got its second name - the Marble Temple - due to the fact that its walls are covered with gray Carrara marble. Italian architect Hercules Manfredi took part in its design.
The temple is adorned with amazing Victorian stained glass windows depicting scenes from Thai mythology. In the building where King Rama V lived during his temporary monasticism, murals depicting the events of the era of his reign have been preserved. The ashes of Rama V himself are kept in one of the halls.
In the vata courtyard, there are bronze statues of the Buddha, including the famous Walking Buddha.
