Description of the attraction

On the west coast of the island of Rhodes lies the picturesque little village of Syana. The village is located in the form of an amphitheater on the green slopes of Mount Akramit, which is the second highest peak of the Atabiry mountain system (823 m above sea level). From the top of the mountain, there is a magnificent view of the coast of Rhodes and the neighboring islands. Syana is located 69 km south of the island's capital and 5 km from the village of Monolithos.

Syana is famous for its excellent honey collected by village beekeepers, strong local grape wine, the traditional Rhodes drink "Sunna" and hand embroidery.

The most famous attraction of the village of Syana is the monastery of St. Panteleimon. This is one of the oldest Orthodox churches on the island, built in the 14th century and located in the very center of the village. The temple is very revered among Orthodox pilgrims - a particle of the relics of the Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon is kept here. In the church, you can admire the restored 18th century frescoes.

Traditional Greek cafes and taverns, which are mostly located along the main street, will delight travelers with excellent Mediterranean cuisine and famous local wine. The main street of Syana is also home to a significant number of tourist shops where you can buy honey, wine, souvenirs, various local products, natural cosmetics, clothing, jewelry, carpets and much more.

Today the village of Xiana is becoming a popular tourist resort with a good selection of cozy apartments.
