Tourists arriving in Murmansk on their way to the city can always notice the unusual Church of the Icon of the Mother of God, located in the village of Murmashi. The church was built in 2006, according to the blessing of the Murmansk and Monchegorsk Archbishop Simon; the consecration of the church took place in the same year. The construction of the church was carried out with donations from an entrepreneur from Murmansk, Vladimir Blinsky.
Murmashi is a village of aviators, builders and power engineers. It is worth noting that the village is large enough and it has everything you need for a comfortable life: a swimming pool, a sports complex, kindergartens, schools, many shops, game clubs, a sanatorium, as well as tennis and hockey courts - it turns out that everything is provided only for fun, but for the soul - there is nothing.
In 1996, a church in the name of the Holy Great Martyr Catherine was opened in Murmashi. Rejoicing at this event, many realized that there was a place where you can communicate with God by entering one of his temples. It is worth noting that initially the building of the church was not provided for this, for which reason the beginning of the church services was not announced in any way, because there was no bell tower with it; besides, the new church was not opened every day. During church services held on holidays, the church could not accommodate everyone. Thus, the question arose about the construction of a new church. During 1999-2000, in the area between high-rise buildings and a store on a small hill, the site was consecrated, after which a cross was installed on it. It is clear that it was at this place that the construction of a new church was planned. In the process of careful study of the area, large power cables were discovered, which made the construction of a church in this area impossible. Monchegorsk and Murmansk Archbishop Simon indicated one place, located not far from the original, but located in the lowland, but it turned out to be swampy and swampy.
In a large village, one person was found who decided to build a church with a bell tower on this place for residents, from which the ringing would be heard over the entire village and summoned residents to the beginning of the service. This man was Vladimir Gennadievich Blinsky. According to Simon's blessing, the foundation of the temple was laid in the fall of 2005. Up to this point, work on the construction of an embankment of sand and gravel has been carried out in the swamp. Then the long-awaited construction began. The church blockhouse was brought from Karelia, which was already assembled at the indicated place. Nikolai Nikolayevich Nesterenko became responsible for the process. The church iconostasis was ordered from the prisoners of the penal colony, and the icons were painted by icon painters from the city of Murmansk - Mikhail Gusarov and Konstantin Moroz.
All the work envisaged was carried out in a short time, therefore, after 1, 5 years, there was already an elegant log church, decorated with white frames, golden domes and a blue roof. The interior decoration is also distinguished by beauty and luxury. In the process of placing the cross on the temple dome, a strong wind rose, and the workers wanted to postpone work. Surprisingly, a miracle happened - as soon as one of the church songs was sung, the wind immediately died down and a rainbow could be seen in the sky, which greatly inspired people and tuned in to the importance of the case. The consecration of the temple took place in the winter of December 9, 2006.
Hieromonk Alexander Boldovsky was appointed rector of the new church, on whom great hopes were pinned, because Father Alexander was the only one from the entire Murmansk diocese who had an honorary higher spiritual education. To date, a Sunday school has begun operating at the Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God since 2007.
