Kalinovsky Landscape Park

Description of the attraction

The Kalinovsky Regional Landscape Park was created with the aim of preserving and protecting wetlands of international importance in the Sivash region of the Crimea on the site of the Kalinovka tract, where there was a military training ground. It is one of the centers of biodiversity in the Sivash region. The park exists “on paper”: there is no administration, the borders are not laid out in nature, the steppe plots are being plowed up.

In the west and east of the park, there are bays (droughts) of the Eastern Sivash, which turn into deeply protruding land areas periodically flooded by wind (wind surges) with adjoining saline areas. The park includes the village of Transparent and the southern part of an unnamed island in the Sivash Bay.

The vegetation of the park is represented by natural associations of several types of Crimean steppes: sod-grass, zonal desert, pale-forb steppes. These types of steppes in the landscape park are presented as standards of vegetation of the steppe Crimea.

Among the fauna in the Kalinovsky Landscape Park, settlements of cormorants, sandpipers, gulls are widespread, and there are also seasonal (in spring and autumn) accumulations of various migratory birds. The protected areas are inhabited by about 150 bird species, 60 of which are background bird species.
