Description of the attraction

The state natural landscape reserve of regional significance "Cheremenetsky" was formed in the 76th year of the XX century. Located on the territory of the Luga district of the Leningrad region, 8 kilometers south-east of the city of Luga. You can get to the reserve bypassing Luga, then - along the road towards the villages of Navolok or Gorodets and Yugostitsa to the border of the reserve. The area of the Cheremenetsky reserve is 7100 hectares, including the water area of lakes, the area of which is 3500 hectares.

The purpose of creating the Cheremenetsky reserve is to preserve the ancient preglacial lakes with the surrounding coniferous and deciduous forests, natural complexes of two large key lakes: Cheremenetskoye and Vrevo. The territory of the reserve is characterized by investment attractiveness, which is expressed in the prospect of organizing family recreation, sports and recreational fishing, and ecological tourism.

Both lakes are stretched in the meridional direction: Cheremenetskoye - 13 kilometers, Vrevo - 15. Most of the coastal territory is occupied by agricultural land. Around Lake Vrevo, there is a birch with an admixture of oak, and there are also fragments of spruce and oak forests. The northern region of Lake Cheremenetskoye is surrounded by a continuous forest, consisting of spruce and oak, with a hoof, hazel, forested forest, and weeping. The northeastern shore of the lake is covered with an elm forest with a flood, and the northern part of the reserve is covered with pine and blueberry spruce forests.

The fauna of the reserve is largely represented by species of southern origin. The lake frog habitat is typical for the coastal zone of the lakes. Also known are the already, crested newt, a nimble lizard. There are nests of the black kite, white stork, kestrel, field harrier, quail, moorhen, klintukh, coot, roller coot, kingfisher, hoopoe, thrush warbler, nuthatch. Mammals are inhabited by the hare, hedgehog, wild boar, garden dormouse. Roe deer are found periodically on the territory. Limnokalyanus, a relict glacial-marine crustacean, lives in Lake Vrevo. Both lakes are home to pike, bream, burbot, roach, perch, ide, and trout in Lake Cheremenetskoye.

On the territory of the reserve you can see old estates with parks and the Cheremenets Ioanno-Theological Monastery.

Specially protected objects of the reserve include areas of deciduous, primarily coniferous-deciduous and elm forests, rare species of animals and plants: crested newt, lake frog, snake, clintuch, white stork, garden dormouse, green woodpecker, roe deer, limnokalyanus, cruciform gentian, cannabis sap, Baltic toe, open lumbago.

On the territory of the Cheremenetsky reserve it is prohibited: the use of pesticides and pesticides for the treatment of forests and agricultural land in the water protection zone, any types of hydraulic engineering and reclamation works, removal of soil from the bottom of lakes; making fires on the territory of forests and launching fires; fishing with nets in lakes, the use of small motorized floating devices in the water area of lakes; development of minerals; discharge of untreated wastewater into water bodies and watercourses flowing into them; driving, parking and washing cars off public roads and outside specially designated parking lots; garbage disposal.
