Description of the attraction

In the very center of the New Zealand city of Auckland, on 17 hectares of land covered with picturesque forests, there is one of the most beautiful zoological gardens in New Zealand - the Auckland Zoo. A huge number of local and exotic animals are collected here: 138 species and more than 875 animals.

The zoo consists of several major exhibitions. On one of them, you can watch elephants, which not only can swim in the pools behind the fences in their enclosures, but can also walk with the trainers right along the paths of the zoo to the surprise of the guests. At another exhibition you can see representatives of the Australian fauna: wallabies, emu, rainbow parrots. Shows are regularly held here where you can feed animals and birds in their enclosures. There is an African exhibition where you can see hippos swimming in a swampy river, baboons climbing trees, and even flamingos.

The trail called Pridelands resembles a mini safari. In one enclosure, giraffes, zebras, ostriches and white rhinos, the third largest animals in the world, happily coexist. In another aviary, the pride of the zoo and the true owners of savannahs are lions.

Representatives of primates found their home in the center of the Zoo: orangutans of Borneo, lemurs and many others. Monkeys live in a special enclosure behind glass in a recreated habitat: dwarf monkeys, golden lions, clawed and squirrel monkeys, gibbons and spider monkeys.

In the children's area, the youngest visitors can not only learn a lot of interesting things about the animal world, but also play on a special playground, climb a slide called "friendly dragon" and watch domestic pigs walking here under the guidance of their trainers.

The crown jewel of the Auckland Zoo are six man-made installations of various animal habitats that can be found throughout New Zealand. These unique locations can only be seen here. The recreated water and swampy areas with flora peculiar only to this natural environment, islands and rocks, forests and a night cave with nocturnal animals and birds living in it - all this amazes the imagination of both children and adults.

The Zoo regularly hosts meetings, master classes, as well as various introductory and entertainment events.
