Description of the attraction
The UnoAErre Museum is a small, private museum in Arezzo, owned by a renowned jewelry company that is considered one of the largest in the world. The company specializes in the production and distribution of gold and jewelry all over the world. Today UnoAErre uses in its work equipment designed taking into account the centuries-old traditions of jewelry art in Arezzo and modern technologies.
The company itself was founded in March 1926 by Leopoldo Gori and Carlo Zucchi and became the first large jewelry factory in Arezzo. It was Gori and Dzukki who initiated the combination of new technologies and the ancient experience of local jewelers, without increasing the cost of their products. UnoAErre reached its highest production volume in the 1960s, when more than 1200 people were employed in the company's factories. In the early 1970s, a gradual decline in production began, and today it employs about 500 people. In the 1990s, the company passed from the hands of Gori-Dzukki to the German concern Morgenf Enfield, but was later bought out by the Dzukki family.
Today, tourists who come to Arezzo can visit a small museum organized by the UnoAErre factory, which displays the works of the craftsmen who participated in the creation of jewelry. Among the exhibits are the creations of Pietro Casquell, Salvador Dali and Salvatore Fiume. There is also a section dedicated to industrial archeology, which introduces the history of the factory and the history of the development of jewelry art in Arezzo, as well as demonstrates traditional tools.
