Description of the attraction

Mount Lanar in the town of Goryachy Klyuch is located on the banks of the Psekups River near the confluence of the right tributary of the Khatyps River. The height of the mountain is about 277 m.

In the area of the mouth of the Chepsi River, there is the village of Fanagoria, and to the south - Fanagoria stalactite caves. It is assumed that their names come from the name of this mountain. In Russian, the name that is easier to pronounce is most often fixed. In this case, from the word "lantern", it turned out "Fanagoria". Although there is another version: in the past, immigrants from Taman lived in the Fanagoria village, where at one time A. V. Suvorov erected the Phanagoria fortress. Therefore, it may well be that the Phanagorians, who settled in a new place, could give it the name of their previous place of residence.

At the top of Mount Lantern there is a monument to the defenders of the Caucasus and a marble memorial plaque erected in honor of the sailors of the 76th Naval Brigade, who heroically fought on this line with the Nazi troops.

The landscape in the vicinity of Mount Lantern strikes with a continuous cover of growing ash trees. The air is filled with the scent of essential oils from plants. Ash is a rapidly flammable perennial herb, which is why it is also very often called the burning bush or gas plant. The leaves of the ash tree are odd-pinnate, resembling the leaves of an ordinary ash tree. The flowers are large enough, up to 2.5 cm in diameter, pinkish-lilac or white with purple veins. In the Caucasus, the Caucasian ash tree grows up to 1 m high. The ether vapors that are secreted by the plant can cause burns of various degrees, so you cannot touch or smell it.
