Description of the attraction

The Architects' Square is a very young landmark of the city of Kharkov. It is located near the metro station named after Architect Beketov, in the area of Sovnarkomovskaya, Pushkinskaya and Darwin streets. It was opened on August 23, 2009 in honor of the City Day (the day when Kharkov was liberated from the Nazi invaders during the Second Patriotic War). The opening ceremony was attended by many well-known people in Kharkov, in particular, the head of the city Mikhail Dobkin, the head of the Department of Public Utilities Viktor Kitanin, as well as the chief architect Sergey Chechelnitsky.

According to the project of the authorities, a sidewalk was laid on the square, lawns were planted, and benches were erected. Also, the monument to the lovers was reconstructed, which is surrounded by a fountain that glows at night. Tourists and Kharkiv residents confidently call this "Lovers' Fountain" the eighth miracle of Kharkiv.

The Architects' Square is a kind of sculpture park, the main decoration of which is the exposition "Seven Wonders of Kharkov". These are models of the best, in the opinion of the citizens of the city of Kharkov, architectural buildings of the city. This exposition includes such exhibits as: House of State Industry (Gosprom), erected in 1928; The Dormition Cathedral complex (its Bell Tower is, today, the tallest structure in Kharkov (89.5m), erected in 1844; Dormition Cathedral, erected in 1783); Monument to T. G. Shevchenko, built in 1935; Cathedral of the Annunciation, erected in 1901; Complex "Mirror Stream", built in 1946; "House with a Spire", built in 1954; Intercession Cathedral, erected in the late 17th - early 18th centuries.

This place is visited not only by tourists, but also residents of the city of Kharkov enjoy spending their free time here.
