Description of the attraction
A monument to architects of all times appeared in Minsk for the Independence Day in 2007. The opening of the monument is timed to coincide with the 940th anniversary of the capital of the Republic of Belarus.
In 2007, the Minsk construction company "Elvira". This company carried out repairs and reconstruction of many significant historical buildings and sights of Minsk. In 2007, "Elvira" repaired the building of the Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning of the Minsk City Executive Committee. The idea to install a monument to the architects of all times in front of the architecture committee was submitted by the general director of the construction company Valery Potkin.
The implementation of the plan was entrusted to the most beloved and recognizable Minsk sculptor Vladimir Zhbanov. His wonderful sculptures were installed in all large parks in Minsk and in other cities of Belarus. A man with a sensitive soul, a great sculptor, he revived city landscapes with his romantic heroes, making the city even a little warmer and more humane. Unfortunately, in January 2012, Vladimir Zhbanov passed away.
The "Architect" monument depicts the symbolic act of creating a collective image of architects of all times. The priestly bearded architect stretched out his hand over buildings of various eras that have become the hallmarks of Minsk: the gates of the ancient wooden castle of the 12th century, the Bernardine temple of the 17th century and the building of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater. Under the architect's arm are some papers, obviously, these are drawings of future buildings.
Despite its youth, the monument to architects of all times has become a recognizable landmark of Minsk, beloved by Minsk residents and guests of the capital of Belarus.
