Description of the attraction
Queens Domain Park is a huge open-air area in the Tasmanian capital Hobart, which houses several playgrounds, the Royal Botanic Garden of Tasmania and the Government Building, as well as many sports facilities. The northwestern part of the park is replete with picnic and barbecue areas.
The hilly park is located in the northeastern part of the city on the banks of the Derwent River. It was created back in 1811, and in the 1860s it was declared the property of the residents of the city.
The main attraction of the park is the Government Building - a beautiful building that is definitely worth admiring. Another popular spot is the Royal Botanic Gardens of Tasmania, where you can see unique plants collected from all over the world. It regularly hosts a variety of flower exhibitions. Another favorite tourist destination is Soldiers' Remembrance Avenue, created in memory of the soldiers who died during the First World War. 520 trees were planted along the avenue in 1918-19. The Hobart Cenotaph is nearby.
In addition, on the territory of "Queens Domain" there are many sports complexes - the Aquatics Center, the International Tennis Center, the Athletic Center, etc.
