Description of the attraction

Ethnographic complex "Ataman" is the largest and the only open-air museum of its kind in Russia. It is located on the outskirts of Taman, in the Lysaya Gora region. The tourist complex is a museum, made in the form of a life-size Kuban village.

The village museum was opened in September 2009. The atmosphere of the Cossack Kuban life was recreated in the complex. Here past and present merged together. The Cossack village is located on the shore of the bay. At the highest point at the entrance is the chapel. On the territory of about 20 hectares, whole streets stretched, were built and equipped: watchtowers, the main square, a market, a mill, a bridge, a church, a tavern, wells, an apiary, a hitching post, a school.

The doors of many farmsteads and huts (blacksmith, winemaker, fisherman, saddler, firefighter, military chieftain, village administration, Cossack, weaver, armorer, clerk and others) will open before visitors in Atamani. Each building has its own history and legends. The guides working in the ethnographic complex will show guests the most interesting places and tell many facts and fascinating stories from the life of the village. For lovers of horseback riding, at the entrance to the right is the Izvoznichya courtyard.

Visitors to the ethnographic complex "Ataman" will have a sightseeing walk along the old streets of the village and courtyards, most of which are open for free viewing. Each courtyard is thematic and individual, for example, "in a blacksmith's hut" a master will make a commemorative coin in front of visitors, and in another courtyard tourists can be taught how to bake pies and pancakes on a real Russian oven. Here you can also try Kuban cuisine. A chapel rises above the tourist complex.

Very often on the territory of the ethnographic complex "Ataman" various thematic exhibitions and festivals are held: "Kuban - artisan", "Cossack cuisine", "Legends of Taman" and many others. Guests have the opportunity to participate in game programs, fun games and comic contests.
