Description of the attraction
In Madrid, in the large, beautiful Casa de Campo Park, on an area of 20 hectares, one of the largest zoos in the world is located. The Madrid Zoo began its history in 1770 with the assistance of the then reigning monarch Charles III. It was originally located near the Madrid Botanical Gardens in the Retiro Park, and after the Revolution of 1808-1814, the zoo was moved to its current location. The zoo in Casa de Campo was built under the direction of the winning architect Jordi Valls, in which many famous architects participated.
The magnificent zoo of Madrid allows visitors to get to know the fauna of different continents closely. More than 2 thousand animals belonging to 500 species live here. Here you can observe the life of Nile crocodiles, Barbary lions, white rhinos, emperor scorpions, anteaters, giraffes, seals, koalas, giant pandas and many other amazing animals.
Here we can also meet the inhabitants of the deep sea. Indeed, on the territory of the zoo there is an aquarium complex, numbering 35 aquariums, and a dolphinarium, where you can watch performances with the participation of these amazing animals, as well as get acquainted with sea lions or penguins.
The hall with the unusual name "Mysterious Nature" will also surprise visitors. Here are collected amazing creatures related to the world of invertebrates, small vertebrates and reptiles. Here you can see the rarest insects and snakes.
On the territory of the zoo, there are recreation areas, cafes, restaurants, where each visitor can relax and gain strength for further research.
