Description of the attraction

The "Sculptor's House" in the city of Lutsk is an architectural monument and a picturesque residential building of the city, located on the banks of the Styr River, on the territory of the historical and cultural reserve "Old Lutsk".

The "Sculptor's House" at 9 Luteranskaya Street was built according to the project of the Volyn architect Rostislav Georgievich Metelnitsky. The building belongs to the modern sculptor N. Golovan. This house is decorated with a wide variety of stone sculptures made in a wide variety of styles: Baroque, Gothic and Antiquity. This gives the impression of sheer eclecticism.

There are sculptural groups and individual figures of animals, people, and mythical characters that adorn the side walls, facade and even the roof of this wonderful house. In total, there are about 500 different sculptures in the "House of the Sculptor". Above the entrance there is a family monogram - “N. M. G. " There is a bas-relief depicting all members of N. Golovan's family on the facade of the building. It is made of green sandstone and weighs one and a half tons. There is also an "Italian" courtyard-smithy, where a huge number of different details are located - blocks of different stones and many small and large sculptures that have not yet found their place in the overall composition. The stone fence deserves special attention. This is a kind of stone mosaic, which consists of a variety of bas-reliefs and carved stone.

The Sculptor's House is originally designed not only externally, but also internally. Each guest of the "House of Sculptures" is greeted by a kid made of stone with a book in his hands, and near the gate are fabulous lions, figures of the Mother of God with Jesus, the apostles Peter and Paul. The owner of the house conducts excursions with a full inspection of the interiors of the building, during which he tells many interesting stories associated with them.
