Description of the attraction

One of the largest museums not only in Denmark, but also in Scandinavia is the Danish Railway Museum, which is located in the city of Odense.

The Railway Museum was opened in 1918 on Silver Street in Copenhagen and only small exhibits were presented to visitors for inspection. Over time, the museum was moved to Odense, and on April 17, 1975, a gallery was opened here, which displays a unique collection of wagons and locomotives. At the opening of the museum, 6 different locomotives were exhibited, as well as a model of a railway, a railway station, models of ferries for trains and much more. In 1988, the museum exhibition was expanded to 15 pieces of railway vehicles. In 1990, after another modernization, two railway transport lines were added for workshops and an exhibition center.

Today on the territory of 10,000 sq.m. The museum has an excellent collection of old steam locomotives of the 19th century. Particularly interesting exhibits are the famous Orient Express and the royal trains in which Frederick IX and Christian IX traveled. Also on the territory of the museum were built old buildings of railway stations and depots of the 19th century. Having visited the museum, you can find out that not only trains, but also luxury cars that transported high-ranking officials once moved along the rails.

On the second floor of the museum there is a small restaurant where you can have a delicious lunch, children can play with models of toy railways and, of course, look at the wonderful exhibits of the museum from above.
