Description of the attraction
Flomsbana, or Flåm Railway, is a masterpiece of Norwegian engineering and one of the most impressive and popular attractions in Aurlandsfjord. It descends from an altitude of 865m above sea level from Myrdal station to the picturesque Flåm valley.
Flomsbana was opened in 1940. for the temporary movement of steam locomotives. Currently, it has acquired a new look - travel in green cars with a locomotive is accompanied by tourist information in several languages. During the twenty-kilometer journey along one of the steepest railway tourists, the most beautiful landscapes of Norway await - rivers, cascades of waterfalls, deep gorges, snow-capped peaks and mountain farms.
Stop at the picturesque Kyosfossen waterfall, which supplies Flomsbahn with electricity, and you can take great pictures. The winding tunnels built in the mountain allow to level the height difference, as well as to protect the road from avalanches and rockfalls.
The Flåm railway crosses the river three times during the journey, which was run through the tunnels under the railway line. At the foot of the mountains, you can admire the beautiful scenery and splendor of the Arlandsfjord.

Flåm Railway Unfortunately, this is nothing more than an attraction promoted by marketers. Yes, from the engineering side, OK. But tourists (who walk along long walking routes) for 100Eur will have very few beautiful views, and this is only for a moment, because there are a lot of tunnels.
