Description of the attraction
The Norwegian Railway Museum is located near the town of Hamar by Lake Mjøsa and is run by the Norwegian National Railway Administration. In this oldest museum, founded in 1896, various station buildings are located on an open area, there are locomotives and carriages of the first issues.
The museum contains a large selection of railway literature, photographs with views of various railways, illustrations, technical drawings and a collection of memorabilia.
The museum is open to visitors from June to September. During this period, video and animation films are shown, computer simulators work. While in the station master's office, you can send a message using Morse code, or try to control the movement of trains. Since 1962, in the summertime, it has been proposed to make a short trip along the narrow-gauge railway on a steam locomotive.
Anyone can combine an educational tour of the railway museum with a pleasant stay on Lake Mjosa, swimming in its warm waters.
