Description of the attraction

The Church of the Resurrection of Christ is a functioning Orthodox church, which is one of the main attractions of the city of Khanty-Mansiysk. The majestic structures of the temple complex, located on one of the city's hills, are visible from almost any area of the city.

The idea of building this temple first appeared in 1988. However, the first brick in the foundation of the church was laid only in 2001. Construction work lasted four years. In May 2005, the consecration of the chapel in the name of St. Cyril and Methodius, and in June of the same year the first divine service was held in the church.

The temple complex is made in the style of Russian architecture of the second half of the 19th century. and today it is the largest in the Khanty-Mansiysk Territory and has no analogues. The author of this project was the famous architect Karen Saprichan, thanks to whom many interesting beautiful sights have already appeared in the city.

Next to the temple is the first Russian Orthodox park of Slavic writing and culture called "Slavyanskaya Ploshchad". According to the idea of K. Saprichan, the territory of the park can be conditionally divided into several sections. The first section is an amazing staircase near the main entrance to the church. Here you can also see monuments to the enlighteners of Siberia - Metropolitans of Tobolsk John and Philotheus. The second section, called "The Road to the Temple", is a cascade of stairs directed towards the center of Khanty-Mansiysk, the length of which is 140 m. The cascade is divided by a stream with small but very beautiful waterfalls and fountains. The third section contains alleys, playgrounds and recreation areas.

The temple complex consists of several buildings, the main of which are the cathedral church in honor of the Resurrection of Christ, the temple in the name of Prince Vladimir, an Orthodox school and a gymnasium, as well as a 62-meter bell tower. The Church of the Resurrection of Christ is crowned with 5 golden domes with crosses. Other features of the temple complex include the outer gallery at the top of the main temple and the chapel of Cyril and Methodius with twelve bells. The main bell weighs over 10 tons.
