The Ford Discovery Center is an interactive automobile museum in Geelong that tells the story of the emergence and development of the automotive industry in Australia. On two floors of the museum, there are models of Ford cars of different years, a cinema room and several venues for themed games. The center was opened in April 1999.
All technology lovers should visit this museum, because cars completely changed the way of life of people in the 20th century. And first of all - travelers, because today, having your own car, you can go wherever and whenever you want, without worrying about comfort and safety. Over the years, the invention of various technologies has only improved cars, and you can learn more about this process at the Ford Discovery Center. Today, the center is Australia's premier automotive museum and is an indispensable part of Geelong's city waterfront.
The history of Ford in Australia began long ago, in 1925, when the first automobile assembly plant was built in Geelong. Despite the use of American technology, a special design was developed in the manufacture of cars for Australian consumers. Already in the mid-1990s, the company's administration began to think about creating a museum that would allow everyone to get behind the scenes of automobile production. The location for its placement was well chosen - on the Geelong embankment, where previously there were woolen warehouses. In 1997, an official ceremony was held to announce the start of construction on the Discovery Center, a joint venture between Ford, the Government of Victoria and Deakin University. Today, in this unique museum, you can see how cars are designed and manufactured, how they are tested in various conditions. Various written and photo documents allow us to appreciate the enormous impact of the automotive industry on our way of life, work and leisure, as well as see how the shape of the car of the future is being shaped in the current economic and environmental circumstances.
