Description of the attraction
The Museum of Retro Cars was opened in Moscow in August 2004. The exposition of the museum contains more than three thousand exhibits. Among them are 210 retro cars and other retro equipment: collections of motorcycles and bicycles, special equipment, trucks and buses. Here you can also see various accompanying exhibits - antique items and various paraphernalia. The exposition of the museum contains samples of domestic production and foreign samples of retro technology.
The museum provides an opportunity to get acquainted with the sequence of development of the domestic auto industry. The exposition dedicated to this topic presents a line of cars from the Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ): this is the first car of the Soviet automobile industry - "GAZ - A", the legendary cars "Pobeda", and the national cars "GAZ - 21".
In the collection of the museum there are many cars that once belonged to famous people. Vladimir Putin agreed to include in the exposition the historic Volga passenger car, which the US President drove as a passenger. This is a 1956 "Volga" with a chrome "Deer" on the hood, which is owned by V. V. Putin. The exposition contains the Volga GAZ-24, owned by the best goalkeeper in the history of Russian football - Lev Yashin. The museum exposition has a unique collection - ZIL executive cars. These cars were donated to the museum by the Special Purpose Garage.
In the exposition of the museum you can see the Japanese jeep of the 30s "Kurogan". One of the first, released in 1972 "Cadillac". Here you can see Mercedes, BMW and Opel. The museum exhibits the American "Hudson", which belonged to Valery Chkalov. This car was a gift from Stalin to the pilot.
The total area of the museum's exhibition space is approximately two thousand square meters. All exhibited cars are in working order. The exposition area is divided into six zones. Each zone reflects a certain period of history. The exhibition is accompanied by a very skillfully selected entourage: portraits of famous people, parts of interiors characteristic of the time period with corresponding objects, video installations and multimedia performances reflecting the spirit of the early 20th century.
Currently, the museum is engaged in the creation of a collection of racing cars and taxi cars. It is planned to open at the museum "Club of fans of retro cars" and a Club of children's creativity, where amateur designers of any age will be able to create their own models and take part in the restoration of real vintage cars.
