Description of the attraction

The pharmacy-museum is the oldest pharmacy in the entire post-Soviet space that has survived to this day in Grodno. It was opened at a Jesuit monastery back in 1709.

Centuries passed, the owners changed, and the old pharmacy remained in the same place and in the same form. Pharmacists are neat and careful people. In its original form, the pharmacy reached 1950, when Soviet officials suddenly decided to close it and give it to medical warehouses. However, even Soviet pharmacists turned out to be people very thrifty and respectful of antiquity, therefore, when it was decided to open a museum-pharmacy, it did not take long to collect an interesting exposition - everything was carefully stored in warehouses. Local residents also helped to collect rare antiques. They brought old bottles and other medical items to the museum.

Herbariums collected and artistically designed by the famous Belarusian writer Eliza Ozheshko, a resident of the city of Grodno, are kept here as museum exhibits. Also on display is a set of tools with which the autopsy of the deceased king of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth Stefan Batory was performed.

Here you can clearly see the development of pharmacy and medicine. The museum contains medical instruments, old pharmaceutical bottles, scales, furniture of the 18th century.

The most surprising thing is that the pharmacy is functioning. You can go there and buy the most modern medicines, as well as homeopathic remedies made according to old recipes, medicinal plants, potions, dietary supplements.
