Description of the attraction

The children's railway in Novosibirsk is a wonderful complex of railway, play, educational, sports and cultural facilities, which are designed to train schoolchildren in railway specialties. The Small West Siberian Railway is located in the northern part of the city in Zaeltsovsky Park.

The idea to create a children's railway (ChR) in Novosibirsk arose back in the 1930s. However, dreams came true only after almost 70 years. The design of the road was carried out by the institutes Zheldorproekt and Sibgiprotrans, and the customers were the administration of the West Siberian railway and the city mayor's office. In late summer 2003, a memorial stone was erected in Zaeltsovsky Park in honor of the foundation stone of the Novosibirsk Children's Railway. Its construction actually began exactly one year later.

Two passenger trains operated by rail, which consisted of model 20.0011 passenger cars and a TU7A diesel locomotive. Two of the three provided diesel locomotives, namely TU7A-3339 and TU7A-3338, were made by special order at the Kambara machine-building plant. In July 2004, they were delivered to the Novosibirsk-Glavny locomotive depot. The carriages were manufactured by the Metrowagonmash plant in the city of Mytishchi. In the summer of 2004, the first batch of cars was built.

The opening of the Small West Siberian Children's Railway took place in June 2005. The total length of the first stage of the railway was approximately 2,600 m. It consisted of three separate points: Sportivnaya station (main), Yeltsovsky junction and Zoo station … By the end of July 2005, three more passenger cars were delivered from the Metrovagonmash plant, after which two trains, Yunost and Sibiryak, began to move along the road, crossing along the Yeltsovsky junction. In August 2006, on the occasion of the Railway Worker's Day, the second stage of the children's railway was opened from the Sportivnaya station to the Zaeltsovsky Park station. Since 2007, three trains have been operating on the Novosibirsk ChRW: Sibiryak, Skazka and Yunost.

Today the children's railway in Novosibirsk is one of the best equipped roads in Russia.
