Description of the attraction
The relict juniper grove is located in one of the most beautiful places on the Crimean coast in the resort village of Novy Svet. The relict juniper grove is located on the territory of a botanical reserve, where a variety of medicinal plants grow and rare species of animals live.
The juniper grove is called the valley of paradise. To get here, you need to climb the rocky staircase of the Taurus, which was cut into the rock about 3 thousand years ago. Climbing the stairs, you can see many unique trees, very similar to pine trees, but this is not them - it is a relict tree-like juniper. It has been established that the age of some of these trees reaches up to a thousand years, and the girth at a height of 5 to 7 m is up to a meter in diameter. The juniper tree does not rot.
Unique relict trees alternate with centuries-old specimens of rock and fluffy oak. There are also ash, maple and pistachio trees. In the fall, green fruits are visible on the trees, not cones.
The local fresh sea air is filled with the typical smell of juniper, phytoncides of pine and mountain herbs. This is especially felt on a hot summer afternoon. Juniper smell is medicinal, killing all microbes, it is a wonderful remedy for the prevention and treatment of broncho-pulmonary diseases. The peculiarity of the climate of the village of Novy Svet is that almost all year round there is sunny weather, which the juniper loves so much.
The landscape and national botanical reserve with unique groves of juniper and pine Stankevich, surrounding the village, made it attractive and famous for recreation, both local residents and its guests. With its paradise landscapes, this fabulous place attracts many photographers, artists and poets. In addition, many films were filmed here, one of them - "Three plus two".
