Alor Setar Tower is a telecommunication tower located in the center of Alor Setar city. In Malay, the tower is called Menara Alor Setar.
In addition to its telecommunication role, the Alor Setar Tower is one of the city's outstanding landmarks, which is primarily seen by tourists. In addition, the tower is a symbol of how quickly the federal state of Kedah is developing.
Tower height - 165.5 m, Alor Setar tower is considered the tallest telecommunication tower in the world.
At the top of the tower is the Seri Angkasa restaurant. A special feature of the restaurant is that the restaurant revolves and visitors can enjoy the surrounding view. From the windows you can see not only the entire city of Alor Setar, but also in full view - the city of Butterworth. And on clear days, you can even see Thailand in the distance. The restaurant specializes in both gourmet local and international cuisine.
There is an observatory in the tower, where they observe the moon - when and in what phase it is in order to mark the beginning of the months of the Islamic calendar - Ramadan, Shaval, Zul Hijja, and accordingly celebrate Ramadan (the month of fasting obligatory for Muslims), Eid al-Adha. (Feast of breaking the fast) and Eid al-Adha (feast of sacrifice). The observation deck of the observatory is located at an altitude of 88 meters.
