Description of the attraction
Maretarium is a unique aquarium of huge dimensions, where more than 50 species of fish and molluscs live in their natural environment, presenting to the visitors the underwater life of the Baltic Sea and Finnish water bodies in accordance with the changing seasons.
The Maretarium consists of 22 special aquariums, the largest of which - the Baltic one - reaches 7m in depth. The maritime theater hosts an amazing scuba diving dive every day to feed the fish. In winter, eelpouts give birth to offspring in an aquarium, and in summer, to smelt.
The Haili Nature School hosts educational classes for schoolchildren with excursion walks in nature.
The newly opened terrariums are home to lizards, snakes, frogs and aquatic insects collected by the renowned Finnish biologist Ilkka Kaivisto.
