Description of the attraction

Cape Kapchik is an ancient coral reef, which is the most mysterious cape on the coast of the New World and one of the most interesting sights of the village. Cape Kapchik, due to its arched shape and massive, semicircular end, reminiscent of the head of a lizard, is very often called the Lizard. It stretches for more than 300 m from the coast of the New World into the sea, dividing Golubaya and Sinyaya bays.

If you look at the cape from the shore, where the descent to the water is just beginning, Kapchik resembles a giant pangolin drinking water from the sea.

But this unique geological object became famous not only with the help of a bizarre shape. A whole world lurked in its depths, some of which was discovered by Prince Lev Golitsyn at the beginning of the last century. Cape Kapchik is pierced through by a large natural cave called the "Through Grotto". The height of the cave is up to 20 m, and the length is about 80 m. It connects the Sinyaya and Golubaya bays with a through passage. The cave was formed as a result of a tectonic fault that set in motion the limestone rocks of the cape. This makes the cape even more unique, since usually such caves on the peninsula are formed under the influence of groundwater.

In medieval times, pirates hid their treasures in the caves of Cape Kapchik, smugglers hid their goods. And in 1903, Lev Golitsyn himself celebrated his jubilee in the Skvozny Grotto, since it was he who was the first discoverer of the underworld of Cape Kapchik. From the side of the Golubaya Bay, a staircase was made to the entrance to the cave, the entrance was made in the form of an arch with a beautiful old door. On the side of the Blue Bay, two stone staircases were equipped. The exits to the sea were decorated with colored stained-glass windows, which made the cave even more fabulous.

Cavers who are exploring Cape Kapchik, in addition to the Through grotto, discovered seven more caves and a salt lake in the bowels of the cape.
