Description of the attraction
Pakostane is a tiny tourist town in Croatia, belongs to the Zadar County. More than four thousand inhabitants live here, most of whom are Croats.
The location of the village is unique - on the one hand, it is washed by the waves of the Adriatic Sea, and on the other hand, Vransko Lake rises to it, which is only six kilometers away. Before the territorial reorganization in Croatia, Pakoštane was part of the large municipality of Biograd na Moru. The picturesque surroundings of Pakoštane comprise four national parks and two nature parks.
The history of this village goes back to ancient times, when there was a Roman settlement in its place. Today it is one of the finest tourist destinations in Croatia.
There is a school in Pakostane that trains professional majorettes - girls participating in parades. The school was opened in 1996, since then the pupils have repeatedly participated in competitions and festivals. The Pakoshtan majorettes wear naval military uniforms, in addition, they hold golden rods in their hands, and these are the only dancers in Europe equipped in such a way.
There are several old churches in the city. There are three small islands near Pakoštane, which local residents call "Vera", "Hope", "Love".
