Description of the attraction

Until now, on the territory of the Dovmont Fortress, only one building of the old time has survived, or, to be more precise, the 17th century - this is the building of the Order Chambers, built in 1695. The building of the chambers is set on a solid foundation, the walls are made of large, meticulously fitted slabs, geometrically precise, it gives completeness to the area, and is masterfully inscribed in its surroundings.

The building was erected in 1695, after the issued tsarist decree allowing the construction of a stone Prikaznaya Chamber in the city of Pskov, due to the fact that Pskov is a border city, large fires often happened here. Construction was ordered to be carried out with money allocated by the townspeople and district people, but at the same time it was ordered to save money.

The Order Chambers consist of three parts - the premises for officials, where the museum is currently located, where there used to be an archive of documents, now there is an exhibition hall, and where the wells (prisons) were located, there is a gallery. After the abolition of the Prikaznaya system, the building was used for different purposes, for example, in the 30s of the 19th century there was a tavern with a peculiar name "Crimea".

Some time ago, the building was transferred to the museum property, and in the not so distant 1995, colossal restoration work was completed, thanks to which you can find out how it all looked in the 17th century. Now, having visited the Order Chambers, you can observe the wooden floor, which is fastened with forged nails, hand-forged and, of course, much more. One of the most beautiful exhibits in the museum is the extraordinary tiled stove. It warms today as well as three centuries ago.

The exposition of the museum is not very large - only a few rooms. Master restorers of our time have skillfully restored the interior that the medieval chamber had at the time from where the voivode and clerks exercised leadership of the Pskov land many centuries ago. A large number of exhibits are genuine, but they were made at a later time in the 18th-19th centuries. It is very tempting that you can touch everything here with your hands. Sit at the governor's table, or become a clerk for a while. Everything is possible, as if in a time machine. This is probably why the Order Chamber so attracts schoolchildren from different regions of Russia.

The Prikaznaya Palata gallery differs from other city galleries in that it offers visitors the works of art restorers, museum workers, only those masters who were directly involved in the restoration and reconstruction of museum expositions. Special items are shown here. Each item presented at the exhibition in the "Prikaznye Chambers" passed the advice of experts of the Pskov Museum-Reserve, and this council certified the authenticity, originality and artistic merit of the work, which is why all the paintings and things are made by professionals in their field.

In the gallery "Prikaznaya Palata" you can buy icons that were painted by artists in compliance with all the traditions and canons of icon painting with the blessing of the Patriarch of All Russia Alexei II. Here you can also buy copies of works from the funds of the museum - reserve with landscapes of Ancient Pskov, Pechora, made at a highly professional level. In addition, there are copies of the works of the greatest painters, made by famous artists from St. Petersburg. The originals of these works are kept in the world's best museums.

The gallery presents items made by the master of blacksmithing Yevgeny Vagin, in technique - free hand forging. Eugene in 1996 received the title of the Best Blacksmith in Russia. Among his works are forged flowers, candlesticks, weather vane and much more. There is also a huge selection of ceramics, author's execution and famous sewing from Torzhok.
