Description of the attraction
Kalafati, or Kalafatis, is an excellent sandy beach on the southeast coast of Mykonos, approximately 1 km long. Since the beach is large enough and located at a respectful distance from the administrative center of the island, Chora and other popular beach recreation centers, there is practically no overcrowding here.
Calafati is well organized. If necessary, you can rent a sun lounger and sun umbrella. You can also hide from the scorching sun under the shade of trees surrounding the beach. Right on the beach you will find a beach bar, a small tavern and a cozy restaurant where you can have a great lunch. In the vicinity of Calafati Beach, you will find a fairly good selection of accommodation, as well as a few more restaurants, a mini market and a pizzeria.
Calafati Beach is the largest water sports center on the island and a true paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. The strong north wind "Meltemi", typical for the region, creates ideal conditions for windsurfing here. In the morning, the wind is usually moderate and great for beginner surfers, but in the afternoon, its speed sometimes reaches 6 on the Beaufort scale and requires certain skills in this sport. At the local windsurfing center, you can rent all the equipment you need, as well as use the services of a professional instructor. Diving and water skiing are especially popular here.
The beach has a volleyball court and a lifeguard team.
