The territory of Kazakhstan is huge, and the country is among the ten largest on the planet. Needless to say, its natural resources are enormous, and the tourism potential is truly inexhaustible. There are absolutely all climatic zones in the republic - from snow-capped mountains to deserts, and it is washed by the waters of the Caspian Sea and, alas, the Aral Sea, which has practically disappeared from the face of the Earth. The impressive landscapes and the best resorts of Kazakhstan attract hundreds of thousands of foreign tourists to the country every year.

Travelers from Russia and many other countries are offered a visa-free visit for up to 30 days, which greatly simplifies travel preparation.

The area where two climatic zones converge - steppes and coniferous forests - has a unique potential in terms of health-improving recreation. In the northern part of Kazakhstan, there is the Burabay resort, which is especially popular with fans of outdoor recreation. Burabay operates regardless of the season and weather: there are enough pleasant and useful entertainments for its guests both in summer and in winter.

Strictly speaking, Burabay is a national park and the protected regime is punctually observed on its territory. Vacationers who decide to spend their holidays at one of the best resorts in Kazakhstan also adhere to its rules.

In summer, it is customary in the park to swim in the lakes, go hiking and cycling, admire the picturesque landscapes, rock climbing and even mountaineering, observe the inhabitants of coniferous forests and steppes, and, of course, enjoy health treatments. Some of the resort's hotels have spa complexes based on cosmetic programs based on local mineral waters and healing mud from the bottom of relict lakes.

With the onset of winter, the resort turns into a Mecca for fans of downhill and cross-country skiing. The slopes of the Ak-Zhelken winter resort in Burabay Park are quite suitable for fans of active entertainment during the New Year holidays. In order to have a great time with the whole family, go to "Kazakhstan Lapland" - a theme park in Burabay. It operates in the winter and offers its guests many exciting adventures - from riding reindeer and dog sledding to getting to know the local Santa, which, like its Finnish relative, has an army of elves, its own souvenir shop, post office and even shamans at its disposal. … At any time of the year, museum expositions are open at the resort, the caretakers of which are happy to acquaint guests with the details of local history and the secrets of the region.

Burabay hotels are aimed at a wide variety of tourists: from those who are used to rest in comfort and pay substantial money for it, to adherents of inexpensive Spartan conditions. For large companies, cottages will be comfortable, and for family tourists - rented apartments with their own kitchen and other important household amenities. The infrastructure of the resort area is quite diverse and includes restaurants and cafes, casinos and comfortable beaches, shopping centers and entertainment complexes.

Health resorts in Kazakhstan

Thanks to the multitude of therapeutic factors concentrated on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, health tourism facilities are being built and developed in the country. Medical resorts are not yet very modern, and their infrastructure lags significantly behind similar ones in Europe or even in the Southeast Asian region. But the government of Kazakhstan is increasingly paying attention to the importance of developing health tourism, and travelers have a chance to find themselves in a few years in modern and comfortable sanatoriums in Kazakhstan.

In the meantime, health-improving procedures can be obtained in several republican centers of sanatorium-resort treatment:

  • Not far from the border with Uzbekistan in the southern region of the republic is Saryagash - a city famous for its mineral springs. They were discovered in the middle of the last century. The wells from which the healing thermal waters are extracted are more than a kilometer deep. Treatment in the sanatoriums of Saryagash is indicated for patients with diseases of the digestive system, endocrine, genitourinary and biliary systems. The mineral water of the resort is saturated with the most valuable natural chemical compounds that normalize metabolism and have a beneficial effect on people suffering from diabetes and thyroid disorders.
  • Moyildy resort is located on the shore of the salt lake of the same name not far from Pavlodar. The local sanatorium specializes in treatment programs for patients with arthrosis, arthritis and other diseases of the joints and ligaments. The health resort also helps guests with infertility and pulmonary diseases, and the main healing factor of the resort is the mud extracted from the bottom of the lake. Silt deposits, called brine, contain healing organic compounds, on the basis of which comprehensive health improvement programs have been developed in the sanatorium. Ideal results are achieved in the rehabilitation of patients who have undergone the most difficult joint surgeries, and in the treatment of athletes injured in training or competition. Moyildy mineral water is an equally important natural remedy used at the resort. With her help, doctors are trying to improve the condition of patients with gastrointestinal tract pathologies, professional poisoning with heavy metal salts and vascular diseases. External use of mineral water and brine from Lake Moyildy significantly stabilizes and even brings patients with psoriasis, neurodermatitis and other autoimmune dermatological pathologies into remission.
  • Cosmonauts have been undergoing rehabilitation for many decades on the basis of the balneological resort Barlyk-Arasan in the "Dorozhnik" center. For earthlings, on the shore of Lake Alakol, a sanatorium was built, where you can get rid of many diseases of various organs and systems. The uniqueness of the lake water lies in the high concentration of mineral salts of the reservoir. In value, it even equates to life-giving water from the Dead Sea. The list of medical indications for a trip to one of the best health resorts in Kazakhstan is quite extensive. The Barlyk-Arsana health complex helps guests with pathologies of the musculoskeletal system (degenerative changes in the spine and inflammation of the joints of a rheumatoid nature), heart and blood vessels, central nervous system and peripheral nervous system (from neuritis to radiculitis), skin (dermatitis and eczema). No less important indications for undergoing treatment in Barlyk-Arsana are gynecological infertility and disorders in the work of the endocrine glands. In summer, guests of the health resort can swim directly in Lake Alakol, and during the rest of the year, healing water is used in the form of baths, compresses and applications.

The infrastructure of the Kazakh resorts is not yet too developed, and therefore rest and treatment in the local sanatoriums are unlikely to please patients who are experienced in comfort and spoiled by special service. If the quality of the renovation of the rooms and the variety of the breakfast buffet are not too important for you, you will like the rest in the health resorts of the republic. Moreover, the vouchers are not too expensive, and the effect of treatment is no less than in fashionable clinics in Europe.

Winter holidays in Kazakhstan

Alpine skiing as a sport appeared in Kazakhstan for a long time, but the country's resorts began to develop rapidly only in this century. In order for them to gain worldwide popularity, the country has ideal conditions. The climate of the mountainous regions of Kazakhstan allows skiing for a very long time: excellent snow cover lies on the slopes for up to seven months a year, while the air temperature on the slopes of the ski resorts of Kazakhstan, even in the height of January, rarely drops below –7 ° С.

The Chimbulak natural tract was discovered in the middle of the last century by fans of skiing from the mountains. The pioneers laid their own tracks on the slopes of the Zailiyskiy Alatau ridge and enjoyed skiing on its impeccable virgin soil and long descents. Later, in Chimbulak, at an altitude of more than 2250 meters above sea level, a modern ski resort was equipped with all the traditional infrastructure. There are eight tracks of various difficulty in the ski area. Beginners can use the “green” route, self-confident skiers prefer the “blue” and “red” slopes, and professionals and amateurs of adrenaline rush usually choose a slope marked in black. It will take more than 3, 5 km to roll along the longest route, while the height difference will be about 900 meters. Some slopes are certified according to the standards of the international organization FIS and occupy high places in the world ranking of the most difficult. Tourists get to the starting points with the help of modern lifting devices - drag and cable cars. There is a ski school in Chimbulak, where beginners are taught to get up on skis and snowboards. Its instructors are professionally educated and speak Russian. For young athletes, a children's playground with toboggan slides and a rich entertainment program is open. After skiing, tourists can enjoy the local cuisine, which is nice to start in a cafe at the foot of the slope. Guests of Chymbulak prefer to continue their rest in bowling, where you can not only throw balls, but also play a game of billiards or drink a glass of wine in the company of like-minded people.

The high-mountain sports complex Medeu is connected with Chimbulak by a common cable car, which stretches for four and a half kilometers and is part of the lifting system leading to the Talgar pass. Medeu was well known back in the days of the USSR, when Soviet athletes were training camps at the rink, and the complex itself allowed for intensive training of athletes and guaranteed new competitive records in the future. The reason for the uniqueness of Medeu lies in the rarefied air, which has a beneficial effect on hematopoiesis and significantly increases the physiological potential of an athlete. In 2003, the Medeu sports complex was thoroughly reconstructed, and today its skating rink receives visitors eight months a year. The area of the ice field, filled with the purest water from mountain rivers, is 10,500 sq. m. is the largest structure on the planet of this level in the highlands. The sports complex has a hotel and a fitness center, where guests are offered a variety of health and beauty treatments.

Almaty and Tabagan are separated by only 17 km, and therefore this ski resort is very popular among residents of the former capital of Kazakhstan. Tabagan trails are laid on the slopes of the mountains surrounding the Kotyrbulak gorge. Their length is about 37 km, and the level of difficulty will suit a variety of tourists - from beginners to professional skiers. There are also snowboard slopes in Tabagan, moreover, virgin areas of slopes are especially popular among the boardwalkers - even and without unpleasant surprises under the snow cover. The resort has built a health complex "Aqualandia", where you can spend time after skiing in the cold. As the name implies, the facility offers various leisure activities related to water - jacuzzi, sauna, massage and various health and beauty spa treatments.

The main attraction of the Elekty resort is the mountain of the same name, on the slopes of which its ski slopes are laid. The resort is not too high-altitude and is located at the level of only half a kilometer above sea level. It is good for families with children, as it has distances of varying degrees of difficulty. Trails for kids are only a couple of hundred meters long, while difficult slopes have a vertical drop of up to 300 m and are attractive for athletes by various turns and bends. Part of the slopes are laid in the forest, and the trees reliably protect the guests of Elekta from strong winds, which are not uncommon in this region at the height of winter.

The tourist potential of Kazakhstan and the competent economic policy of its government allow us to hope that the best resorts of the republic in the very near future will turn into popular destinations for travelers from all over the world, including compatriots.
