Description of the attraction
The Yasnaya Polyana estate in Gaspra is one of the oldest buildings of this kind on the southern coast of Crimea. The mansion with two octagonal towers and lancet windows has survived to this day.
The Gasprine Castle of gray stone with huge crenellated towers entwined with evergreen ivy was built in the style of mystical medieval buildings by the architect F. Elson. According to experts, the Yasnaya Polyana estate was the very first and at the same time the largest landowner estate in the Crimea. She was also the most slender and solid creation of the Crimean "Gothic" estate among the Koreiz rocks.
The manor belonged to the largest tycoon of Russia, Prince A. N. Golitsyn and was named "romantic Alexandria" in honor of Tsar Alexander I. The construction of the house was supervised by the English architect V. Gunt, who took part in the construction of the Vorontsov Palace.
The palace for Prince Golitsyn was completed by the fall of 1833. The arrangement of the estate was completed by the layout of the English park. It was started in 1835 and lasted until the 40s. The park was laid out by Karl Kebach, a famous gardener of the Vorontsov Palace, after which he was replaced by Ludwig Kremer.
After the death of Prince A. Golitsyn, the estate for a short time became the property of Prince Nikolai Nikolaevich, the elder. Then the estate passed into the possession of Countess Panina, who hosted here in 1901-1902. Russian writer L. Tolstoy. It was a luxurious, well-equipped home.
In the early years of Soviet power, a sanatorium for scientists was located in the castle. The opening of the health resort with an outlandish name - the sanatorium of the Central Commission for the Improvement of the Life of Scientists "Gaspra" took place in June 1922. The name "Yasnaya Polyana" was given to the institution in 1947 in honor of the family estate of L. Tolstoy near Tula. Today in this amazing palace there is a sanatorium "Yasnaya Polyana", which is the very first sanatorium on the South Coast of Crimea.
Striking landscapes, a magnificent park, a unique healing climate, the purest sea air make this place one of the most favorite places for people to relax.
