Description of the attraction
The Kotka Aeronautics Museum is located in the hangar of Kymi Airport next to the runway. Thanks to the "Karhula" flying club, 15 aircraft presented in the museum, including rare ones, are kept in working order.
The Gloucester Gauntlet fighter is the only aircraft in the world during the Second World War that is fully operational and still flies several times a year. The collection also includes a light attack aircraft, a supersonic fighter-bomber, a glider, a miniature single-seat helicopter and others.
Directly from the museum, along the runway passing by, small private planes soar skyward. Nearby there is a monument to military pilots who died during the Second World War.
The museum is open from May to September. Admission is free, however donations for the maintenance and development of the museum are welcome.
