Description of the attraction
The felt boots museum was opened in Moscow in 2001 at the initiative of the management of the felt production "Horizon". This unique, distinctive museum contains exhibits that tell about the history of the appearance and the difficult creation of this type of footwear. The collection of the museum contains the rarest exhibits. One of them is embroidered felt boots of the 19th century.
The exposition of the museum "Russian felt boots" allows you to learn a lot of new and interesting things about the creation of felt boots. It allows us to understand that felt boots are not only warm, soft, comfortable, healing and often simply irreplaceable shoes, but also one of the symbols of Russia. This shoe is unique - it has no seams, no scar, no beginning and no end. Valenki were loved by representatives of all classes in Russia, regardless of rank.
The museum exhibits both old production samples and modern and designer felt boots. There are felt boots, turned by artists into art objects. The collection of the museum has very interesting samples, for example, boots for women of fashion with heels. The heel of the boots was hollow, such boots could be put on directly on the shoes.
The museum displays samples of tools for the production of felt boots. The exposition of the museum will acquaint with the methods of hand felting and the stages of industrial production of felted products. Here you can see a carding machine that is 120 years old. Tourists are shown a film that visually traces the entire path of creating a felt boot - from a pile of sheep's wool to a finished shoe.
The exposition of the museum is brightly, interesting, informative and exciting. It is interesting for both adults and children. Visitors are delighted with the slogan “Touching with your hands is a must!”. Boots can be tried on and photographed in them. In memory of the visit to the museum, there will be beautiful photographs in painted felt boots and felt hats. The atmosphere in the museum is warm and cozy. The excursion is accompanied by the forgotten sounds of gramophone music, the song of Lydia Ruslanova "Boots, boots …" sounds. Under it, in the hands of the master, a one-piece felted boot is born from a pile of wool.
