Description of the attraction
In the town of Kemi there is an Evangelical Lutheran church built in the neo-Gothic style according to the project of Joseph Stenbeck in 1902. The building, made of red brick, not only attracts the eye with its beauty, but is also quite spacious - up to 1000 people. The large crucifix inside the church is impressive.
The excellent acoustics allows visitors to fully enjoy the concerts of sacred and classical music that are held here throughout the year. Outside the church is a huge war memorial. The bell tower of the church serves as a good reference point for both locals and sailors.
In 2003. the church in Kem has been renovated and is open to parishioners and tourists all year round.
