Description of the attraction
Mirgorodsky resort park is located in the center of the city on both banks of the Khorol River. After 1915, the first hydropathic establishments began to appear here, in which the healing properties of the famous mineral water were used. This became possible thanks to the efforts of the outstanding military doctor and public figure of the Mirgorod region, the actual state councilor and general from infantry I. Zubkovsky, who discovered the healing potential of local mineral water in the fight against diseases of the musculoskeletal system and digestive organs.
Currently, the best city balneological sanatoriums are located on the territory of the Kurortny Park, a beach is equipped on the bank of Khorol. There is also a monument to I. Zubkovsky in the park, a museum of the resort town of Mirgorod. There is also a pump room with mineral water, and the city house of culture is located nearby.
The highlight of the Mirgorodsky Kurortny Park is, without a doubt, the lake with a fountain, where birds - swans and ducks - live all year round. There are two such lakes in the park. The entire park area is "populated" with sculptures depicting famous characters in the immortal works of Gogol. The majestic monument to the famous writer N. V. Gogol stands not far from the park. Also on the territory of the park is the Holy Dormition Church, where believers come to pray and collect healing water.
