Description of the attraction

The Barcelona Zoo is located almost in the city center in a picturesque location next to the famous Arc de Triomphe. The zoo was opened in 1982, and since then it has been a permanent place of visits for both children and adults.

The Barcelona Zoo contains a very large number of a wide variety of animals from different climatic regions, which, nevertheless, feel great living in a mild Mediterranean climate. Representatives of Africa, Asia, Australia, South America, many islands and even Antarctica live here. Animals are kept in open-air cages, surrounded by a low fence and surrounded by moats with water or fenced with plexiglass structures. For all animals of the zoo, conditions have been created that best meet their natural habitat conditions.

Walking along the zoo's route, you will meet African and Indian elephants, hippos and rhinos, kangaroos and emus, giraffes and okapis, bears and lions, llamas and camels, nutria and lemurs, as well as many other amazing animals. The zoo has a large collection of birds - there are red-green macaws, lovebirds, toucans, pink and orange flamingos, peacocks, herons, black swans. There are many primates of various species living here. The pride and property of the zoo, its original symbol - the unique white gorilla Snowball, unfortunately, has already died at the very old age for these animals, 40 years. A red panda lives in a transparent plastic enclosure right in the center of the zoo. Here you will also see the penguin family and see fur seals. In addition, the zoo has a large terrarium in which crocodiles of various species, iguanas, turtles, snakes and lizards live. There is also a swimming pool, where you can not only see how dolphins live, but also see wonderful performances with the participation of these amazing animals.
