As you know, the orchid flower is a symbol of the Singapore state, therefore, the Orchid Park, opened in Singapore in 1995, is the main center in the world for the cultivation of this type of flowers.
Located on the territory of the Botanical Garden, the park covers an area of about three hectares. The park is divided into 4 sectors, each of which grows orchids of a certain color range, corresponding to one of the seasons. "Winter" - light blue shades, "spring" - yellow and golden, summer is presented mainly in red, and autumn - in orange.
A walk in the park will delight flora lovers, because there are about 60 thousand species of living orchids. The collection of the park is annually replenished with specimens brought from different countries, as well as the employees of the park are engaged in the cultivation of these extraordinary flowers.
The largest and most colorful collection of orchids is contained in a part of the park called "Singapore Orchids". There are species that bear the names of famous people. For example, the orchid "Princess Diana" or "Queen Elizabeth". Most of the flowers were brought from Malaysia, Thailand, Java and other countries in Southeast Asia. A pavilion was built in the park for the cultivation of "cold" species of orchids, where a moderate microclimate is constantly maintained. For visitors there are specially equipped places where you can take pictures among the flowers. But it is strictly forbidden to pluck orchids.
